本系與科技部人文社會科學研究中心合辦林瑋嬪教授新著 Island Fantasia: Imagining Subjects on the Military Frontline between China and Taiwan 國際新書發表會

本書以深入的田野調查對馬祖列島進行研究。1949年因美蘇冷戰與台海兩岸的衝突，馬祖在一夕之間變成前線戰地。隨著兩岸情勢緩和，軍事統治在1992年走入歷史。經歷巨變的島嶼人們對於他們的未來應走向何方一直感到困惑。本書深刻地分析這一過程，並探索當代的馬祖人如何重新認識自我以及想像島嶼未來。

This book presents in-depth research on the Matsu islands between China and Taiwan. It studies their sudden transition from a forbidden outpost in the Qing period to a military frontline during the PRC-ROC conflicts, and closely examines the cultural vibrancy of the people. It is both timely and refreshing.
