Requirements for Students to Transfer to the Department of Anthropology

Beginning in their second year (not including extended term of study) and with the approval of the chairpersons of both the original and applied majors, undergraduate students may apply for a change of major in accordance with NTU regulations. You can only change majors once.

Requirements

  1. In the previous academic year, have an average GPA of 2.44 or above.
  2. Obtain the approval of your current department head and the head of the Anthropology department. 
  3. Submit notice to the Academic Affairs Office within the application period specified in the school calendar.
  4. After transferring, students must complete all credits and requirements of the anthropology department’s bachelor’s program.

Requirements

Meet the requirements of NTU’s student enrollment in second department regulations. Including 

  1. Be in the top 20th percentile of their class with a GPA of 2.92 or higher in the previous academic year.
  2. Obtain the approval of your current department head and the head of the Anthropology department. 
  3. Submit notice to the Academic Affairs Office within the application period specified in the school calendar.
  4. After transferring, students must complete all credits and requirements of both departments.

Elective subjects

The department has more than 15 credits of compulsory subjects. The 15 credits do not include the following three required subjects:

1. Freshman Year: “8 subjects with 10 credits” /(8科擇10學分修習) 

2. Sophomore Year: “Linguistics” (1 class);

3. Junior Year: “Archaeological Field Practice and Methods” and “Cultural Field Practice and Methods” (2 classes)

Students applying for a minor in this department, in addition to completing the compulsory subjects of this department, must also complete 26 credits of elective courses offered by this department within the prescribed period.

I. Eligibility to Transfer: Students who have not completed the three courses of “Anthropology”, “Introduction to Archaeology” and “World Ethnography” shall not apply to transfer.
