演講簡介Since the mid-20th century, the practice of archaeology took many different forms in the way it was managed and controlled: state-based, regional/federal-based, public, private, commercial, academic, city-based, amateur groups, etc. Yet, it was generally organized in accordance with the dominant political ideology of the time, but most importantly it was adjusted, on a national level, to specific needs and internal ideological dynamics. In a simplified, dichotomous way, Japan, France, Italy, Greece, and many other made the choice of a State-based archaeology, while Northern Europe, Northern America and Australia made the choice of a commercial-based (privatized) archaeology. Does this structural difference affect the archaeological practice? Are archaeologists in both systems doing the same job and for the same objectives? Furthermore, what is the situation in Taiwan? What choices have been made and what are the ones still needed to be done, to define a clear and bright future for Taiwanese archaeology?
