演講簡介Traditionally, public archaeology mainly involved activities such as public lectures, workshops, demonstrations, and site tours, along with media appearances. However, more recently, the terms “public archaeology” and “community archaeology” have become increasingly intertwined, in large part due to audiences becoming more diversified and localized. During this talk and discussion, we will delve into the successes and shortcomings of public and community archaeology efforts in an archaeological project located in the Indigenous highland region of Peru. What challenges were encountered while working with Indigenous communities, particularly those with internal political divisions? Which initiatives proved to be fruitful, and which ones could have been executed better? Additionally, how can we remain mindful of local needs and avoid colonialist tendencies in the practice of archaeology? Furthermore, we will engage in a collaborative discussion about future directions in light of the rising prevalence of social media and online gaming in highland Indigenous communities of Peru.
